Find the Neenah Court Docket

Start with the citation itself, because that slip of paper tells you which Neenah office holds the record. A city ordinance violation or traffic ticket belongs to the Joint Menasha–Neenah Municipal Court, where the municipal clerk runs the plea and payment process. Anything filed as a circuit case or a municipal appeal sits with Winnebago County instead, and the county clerk of circuit court supplies those documents. Match the issuing court first, then search by name. A Neenah court docket search works far better once you know which side of that line your matter falls on.

Joint Menasha–Neenah Court

Neenah does not run its own municipal court alone. It shares one with Menasha. The Joint Menasha–Neenah Municipal Court meets in Council Chambers at Neenah City Hall. The address is 211 Walnut Street, Neenah, WI 54956. Call 920-886-6285, fax 920-886-6286. The official page names Judge James B. Gunz and a municipal-court clerk.

The joint arrangement took effect May 1, 2002, under a joint ordinance. That history shapes where records go. A Menasha citation and a Neenah citation land in the same court administration even though the cities stay separate. Keep the issuing city handy for every inquiry. This shared court is not a Winnebago County Circuit Court branch. Its ordinary cases do not show up in WCCA.

The Neenah Municipal Court Route

The joint municipal court hears local traffic and ordinance matters. Felonies, general civil suits, family cases, and other circuit matters are outside its authority. Those belong to the Wisconsin Circuit Court. A municipal matter stays with the joint court unless it is appealed. Otherwise it is routed into circuit court only by that process.

The citation shows the dividing line. If it names the joint court with a municipal date, call the Neenah-based clerk. A later notice may carry a Wisconsin circuit case number. Then WCCA and the Winnebago County Clerk of Courts are your sources. Searching both systems before identifying the court can yield a "no result." That result is really just a routing error.

Neenah Plea Sheet Fields

The one-page Neenah plea sheet lays out a simple workflow. It asks for your name, address, phone, and email. You also add the citation number or numbers and the court date. Then you pick guilty, no contest, or not guilty. Those fields let the clerk match your response to the right citation. The clerk can then send whatever comes next.

Neenah Court Dates and Settings

The citation controls the first municipal date, since the joint court posts no public calendar search. When unsure, confirm with the municipal clerk. Mailing, faxing, or emailing a plea does not mean the setting vanished; watch for the court's response and save your submission confirmation.

DateThe court date printed on the citation or supplied in a later official notice.
TimeThe appearance time stated by the joint court; confirm it directly if unclear.
LocationCouncil Chambers, Neenah City Hall, 211 Walnut Street, unless a current notice says otherwise.
JudgeThe official court page identifies Judge James B. Gunz; the current notice controls.
Setting TypeInitial appearance, pretrial, trial, or another municipal proceeding.
Citation KeyThe local citation number, which is not a WCCA circuit case number.

A not-guilty plea usually brings a city attorney discussion and a pretrial route next. That fresh notice beats any old calendar reference.

Three Neenah Plea Choices

Guilty
An admission resolved through the court’s disposition process. The official form says an appearance generally is not required for this written choice.
No contest
A plea choice the municipal form also says generally avoids appearance; read the court’s disposition and instructions.
Not guilty
A contest of the citation that requests a pretrial rather than immediate final adjudication.

For guilty or no-contest submissions, the form states that a disposition sheet is mailed. Payment is due within 60 days. That is this joint court's documented language, not a deadline shared by every Wisconsin citation. Per the city FAQ, a not-guilty plea can go by letter with your name and ticket number before the initial appearance. You can also enter it in person at that appearance.

A plea is just a procedural response. It is not a docket status, a payment receipt, or a certified judgment. Read the mailed disposition for the amount and the instruction that fits your case.

Neenah Traffic Tickets

Return the official plea sheet by mail. You can also fax it to 920-886-6286 or email it to municipalcourt@ci.neenah.wi.us. Follow the court's current instructions and send it before the court date. The form warns that no plea by that date can mean a default judgment. Anyone who wants to contest should not pay instead of filing the not-guilty process.

The joint payment page takes Menasha and Neenah traffic and ordinance payments by card, electronic check, and telephone. The phone-payment number is 844-309-5949. Paymentus charges a $3.95 convenience fee on payments up to $500. For how this municipal route differs from other local courts, see the Winnebago County traffic court records page.

Neenah Payment Is Not a Docket

The joint payment page is a transaction channel, nothing more. It offers no searchable public docket, no full event history, and no way to authenticate a municipal record. Have the citation and payment details ready, verify the amount against the disposition or court instruction, and keep the confirmation.

Official joint Menasha and Neenah traffic and ordinance payment page
The documented joint payment route serves eligible municipal citations; it is not WCCA.

The convenience fee sits on top of whatever the court ordered. The published amount only applies below a stated payment level. Check the live figure before you pay, and route any question about the balance or disposition to the municipal clerk, not the processor.

Where Neenah Cases End Up

A run-of-the-mill Neenah ordinance case stays put in the Joint Menasha–Neenah Municipal Court. Appeal it and the case moves up to Winnebago County Circuit Court, picking up a circuit record there. Felonies, misdemeanors, civil suits, family matters, and anything else of general jurisdiction that starts in Neenah skips the municipal court entirely and begins at the circuit level.

Docket flow: Joint Menasha–Neenah Municipal Court › Winnebago County Circuit Court on appeal › Wisconsin Court of Appeals when further reviewed

WCCA covers the circuit stage. The county clerk keeps the official file. For the county-level route, the Winnebago County court docket lays it out. One caution: a missing WCCA result does not mean a municipal citation was dismissed. The case may simply have never left the joint court.

Neenah Court Caseload Context

Wisconsin's 2024 municipal report credits the Joint Menasha & Neenah court with 3,216 filings. That number is shared. The table does not split Neenah's share from Menasha's. Treat it as context, not a case-finding tool, since the state calls these statistics self-reported and warns some municipalities skip quarters.

Population and filings answer different questions. Neither one identifies a person or tells you whether a citation exists. For an individual matter, rely on the citation and court contact.

Public Access to Neenah Records

Municipal court records fall under Wisconsin public-record principles. Court confidentiality rules apply too. The joint municipal clerk handles requests for its own citation records. Did an appeal produce a circuit case? Get those documents from the Winnebago County Clerk of Courts instead. Never copy protected identifiers from a record into a public search note.

Key Wisconsin rules:

Wis. Stat. § 19.35 provides an inspection and copying framework subject to legal limits.

Wis. Stat. § 801.19 protects specified personal identifiers in court filings.

Wis. Stat. § 801.20 addresses confidential court records and access.

Wis. Stat. § 801.21 supplies the process for sealing court records.

A blank online result is not proof that no record exists. When you request access, state the citation or case number, the exact record, and the court.

Neenah City Hall or Room 110

Take a joint municipal citation to Neenah City Hall. The Council Chambers and municipal clerk sit at 211 Walnut Street. The Winnebago County courthouse matters only for a circuit case or an appeal. Its records counter is at 415 Jackson Street, Room 110, Oshkosh. The main number is 920-236-4848.

The county's published circuit-copy fees run $1.25 per page. A certified document costs $5, exemplification is $15 plus pages, and a name search costs $5. Do not assume those county charges apply to a municipal request. The joint court's payment convenience fee is not a county copy fee either. Name the court and record type before asking a price. The two schedules stay untangled.
